Golnaz Abdoli: A Vision Through the Lens

Golnaz Abdoli, a photographer inspired by the intimate connection between the camera and her subjects, brings to life the beauty of the natural world through her art. Born in Iran, she spent the first 18 years of her life there before moving to the San Francisco Bay Area in the 1980s.

With a background in Biology and Human Development from UC Davis, and a career as an elementary school teacher for over two decades, Golnaz found her passion for photography after retiring in 2014. Her work, which emphasizes shapes, form, and light, reflects her deep exploration of the world through the lens.

Golnaz’s work has been exhibited at various venues including the Triton Museum, The Griffith Museum, San Francisco Women Artist Gallery, O’Hanlon Gallery in Mill Valley, and Grayloft Gallery in Oakland, California. She was the recipient of Best of Show from the Center for Photographic Art, Carmel.

Her work has also been published in All About Photo Magazine and LensWork, and has earned accolades from the Julia Margaret Cameron Awards.

As with most art, I find that photography and its limitless expressions offer us a unique language that transcends time, culture, and faith. I marvel at its ability to bring people together to interpret and express their own unique vision of the images I produce, weaving a tapestry of shared experiences and emotions, connecting us all through the universal language of photography that transcends boundaries.
